Runners Up

Adrien Nieto was a contestant on Season 2 of MasterChef. He was the runner-up of the season. He returned for Season 12: Back to Win, but failed to receive an apron.

Personality[]

Adrien was seen as a meek but polite person, rarely smiling or laughing, but always taking the competition seriously while being respectful to his fellow competitors. In the kitchen, while he was inconsistent, he was recognized as a strong cook, since he cooked with a lot of heart and talent that gave frequent high performances. Because of his work ethic and passion for food, he was respected by most of his fellow contestants, with several of them citing him to be the eventual winner of the season upon their eliminations. However, he did not approve of Christian's ego.

Quotes[]

Season 2[]

  • (After being named Runner-Up) "The pain I feel losing sucks, but Jennifer is a big competitor, so I'm happy for her. She deserved to win MasterChef. I came here an amateur cook, but I'm leaving here pretty much a chef and I'm definitely gonna keep cooking and pursuing my dream."

Season 12[]

  • "Even though I didn't win, MasterChef significantly changed my life. I've been around the country working my way up to executive chef and then opening up restaurants. My love for food definitely comes from my Mexican heritage and I want to showcase how much I've grown in these 10 years. I wanna win and I'm here to win."
  • (After failing to receive an apron) "Losing 10 years ago, 2nd place, and then coming in and not even getting more opportunity to show what I've learned in the last 10 years, it's a little bit of a disappointment."
