Elizabeth "Bethy" Rossos [1] was a contestant on Season 4 of MasterChef. She ranked in 9th place.

Personality[]

Despite a lack of screen time, Bethy was shown to be a strong competitor and was constantly praised for her work effort. She was stated to be competition by Krissi and Eddie. She got along well with her competitors, such as Luca, Eddie, Natasha, and especially Jessie. Bethy was one of the strongest contestants in team challenges, only competing in one Pressure Test. Despite showing moments of greatness, she was nearly always a middle-of-the-road competitor, as she never placed in the top of a Mystery Box. Her mistakes eventually caught up to her, as a poorly conceived Szechuan Noodle dish with fresh mushrooms sent her home.

Bethy's dish was not chosen in the Single Ingredients Mystery Box challenge.

She was also not chosen to be tasted in the langoustine elimination challenge.

Episode 5[]

Bethy was Jessie's second pick to be a part of the red team. She suggested chicken teriyaki as the main dish, which Jessie agreed with. She was in charge of making the sauce, but Gordon questioned why it was so watery. Bethy told him she added water as it was too salty, but he suggested adding pineapple or ketchup to sweeten and thicken the sauce. She said after adding 10 different ingredients, the sauce was finally back on track. The red team eventually won the challenge with 58% of the vote, and she was safe from the Pressure Test.

Episode 6[]

Bethy's dish was not chosen in the Japanese themed Mystery box challenge.

In the Dozen Cupcakes Elimination Challenge, she made cupcakes with 3 different flavors (Banana Foster, Raspberry Lime and Almond Chocolate). The judges were concerned that she was doing too much, but they ended up praising all her flavors, as well as the amount of work and effort she put into them. Her batch of cupcakes were the best of the challenge, with Gordon praising for her workload and presentation. She and Bime were made team captains for the following challenge.

Episode 7[]

Bethy was tasked to lead blue team to cook 101 New York strip steaks with a sauce and two sides of fresh produce for firemen. Her team was initially comprised of herself, Lynn, Jessie, James, Howard, Jonny, Savannah and Krissi but later exchanged Krissi for Eddie on Bime's team as an advantage for having the best cupcakes in the previous challenge. With 68 out of 101 votes, she and her team won and were exempt from the pressure test.

Episode 8[]

Bethy and the 11 other safe contestants went to Las Vegas to judge Natasha and Beth's and Luca and Kathy's burgers. She was the second contestant to place their vote, and she voted for the blue team.

Episode 9[]

Bethy's dish was not chosen in the Foreign Foods Mystery Box challenge.

She was also not chosen to be tasted in the Agnolotti elimination challenge.

Episode 10[]

Bethy was chosen to join the blue "beast" team, led by Krissi to cook for the cast of Glee at Paramount Studios. Her team lost the challenge with 37 out of 127 votes and had to face the pressure test.

Krissi could save as many or as few people as she wanted from the Pie Pressure Test. She decided not to save Betty as she considered her a threat. When the judges revealed she, Jordan, James, and Bime had to make a lemon meringue pie, she said she sucked at making them. The judges then revealed they had to make the pie with any citrus besides lemon. She had her pie flavoured with lime but it had undercooked pastry, sending her to the bottom 2 with Bime. She was saved over Bime from elimination after Bime's infamous simple mistake of mixing up his cornstarch and cream of tartar.

Episode 11[]

Bethy's dish was not chosen in the Pig Head Mystery Box challenge.

She was also not chosen to be tasted in the crab elimination challenge.

Episode 12[]

Episode 13[]

Bethy's dish was not chosen in the Mexican Themed Mystery Box challenge.

She was also not chosen to be tasted in the $5 Walmart bake sale elimination challenge.

Episode 14[]

In the next team challenge, Bethy was chosen to join the blue team, led by Jessie to make 101 fish tacos for surfers in Huntington Beach, CA. Bethy and her team later won 51 to 25 and were exempt from the pressure test and gaining tickets to the 2013 MLB All-Star Game.

Episode 15[]

Bethy's Hickory Bacon and Wild Boar Sausage Dish was not chosen in the Sausage Mystery Box challenge.

In the mushroom elimination challenge, Bethy made Szechuan Noodles with Wild Mushrooms. When Graham came to check on her, she felt good, but said that she forgot any form of sugar for her dish, before frantically asking everyone if they had any. Eddie said that Bethy wasn't his main target, but that she was someone he could see as potentially winning, and was okay with her going home if she had to. Eventually, Jordan allowed her to take some as he wasn't too worried about her.

When she presented her dish to the judges, it was unfortunately overpowered with sesame oil and ginger, which took over the mushroom flavor. Due to her poor performance, she was the third contestant to be named as a part of the Bottom 3, with James as the first and Jordan as the second. She told the judges she wanted to make them proud, but was eventually eliminated as her dish was poorly conceived and she failed to make the wild mushrooms stand out. She was praised for her work ethic, with Joe even saying she was the one person in the room he would hire to work in a restaurant. She hugged the judges, and said that Jessie was going to win.

Episode 25[]

Bethy returned in this episode, cheering for Luca and Natasha in the finale.
