Season 5[]
Christina lives with her partner, Kate, and her two children, Damian (9) and Anabelle (6). When she's not spending time with her children she is either watching cooking shows or cooking.
When her son Damian was diagnosed with autism, it became necessary for her to be a stay-at-home mum.
"I want to prove to myself that I am more than what I am now. I know that being a mum is one of the most important jobs in the world, but I know that I can be more."
Christina's dream is to open up a funky cafe that plays on her love of 1950s fashion and style.
"I would love to move to London and open up a little cafe there with Kate, Damian and Anabelle. I want to be able to give other mothers opportunities to interact with other people, and I would eventually love to run cooking classes from the cafe at night and spread my love of food."[1]
Season 14[]
Christina Batista knows good food, crediting her large Portuguese family with encouraging her creativity in the kitchen.
She can fondly recall her Avó cooking milho when she was a child. It was a process which lasted an entire day, and the resultant bowls across the dining table, served with a fried egg or chourico sausage still makes her smile. Passionate about her Portuguese heritage and the rich and delicious food from her culture, Christina’s travels to Portugal have enhanced her skill and changed the way she thinks about cooking in the years since.
It’s an obsession which led to Season 5 of MasterChef Australia, where Christina made it to Finals Week before bowing out in fifth place. Immensely proud of her achievement, make no mistake she intends to take it all the way and take home the illustrious trophy this season.
Following her stint in the kitchen in 2013, Christina went on to complete work experience at the prestigious Quay restaurant before starting her own market stall at farmers markets and running a catering business.
With dreams of hosting her own cooking show sharing her love of Portuguese cooking and showcasing its impact worldwide, Christina will be one to watch as she brings her expert knowledge of Portuguese cuisine and charcoal cooking to the famed MasterChef kitchen.
Leaving behind at home her mother Fatima, partner Chris, son Damian and daughter Anabelle, Christina loves to listen to music, spend time with family, and visit new restaurants.[2]
