Daniel "Dan" Collado was a contestant on Season 6 of MasterChef. He ranked in 18th place.

Personality

Dan had a nice personality and was easily one of the most handsome male cooks in the show's history. He was also a cunning strategist, always thinking one step above the others, and was always taking the competition seriously by being cautious when making friends and enemies. In the kitchen, he had plenty of passion and potential and showed himself to be an early front-runner until he withdrew from the competition entirely due to a family emergency.

Season 6

Episode 1

Dan was first seen shaking his head in disapproval at the notion of having to face off against another home cook to earn an apron. His audition was briefly seen as he received his apron against another home cook named Jonathan. He revealed himself to be an engineer as well as a model.

Episode 4

In the first team challenge most of the women flocked towards Dan due to his strong performance in the first challenge. Amanda grew annoyed at this notion and believed that Dan didn’t deserve so much praise.

Episode 6

In the beginning of the episode, Gordon revealed to the 17 remaining contestants that Dan had withdrawn from the competition due to a family emergency.

Post MasterChef

• After his appearance, Dan continues to model, works in engineering sales and offers private chef services with his company DRC Private Dining.

• He is the first cook to hold two different occupations prior auditioning.
• He won the first Mystery Box Challenge of the season.
• He is the second contestant to withdraw from the competition, following Gordon (Season 5).
  • He is also the first to withdraw due to personal reasons rather than medical reasons.
    • By extension, he is the first contestant with a Mystery Box win to withdraw from the competition.
• He is the lowest ranked contestant in American MasterChef history to win in a Mystery Box challenge, at 18th place.
  • However, this is likely only because he withdrew from the competition.
• Dan, Mateo and Brianna are the only contestants from the season who did not return for the finale.
