David "Dave" Mack was a contestant on Season 3 of MasterChef. He ranked in 17th place.

Personality

Dave was a nice and ambitious person, but lacked basic cooking skills. He made simple mistakes, especially when he served dirty food while forgetting to clean the dirt out from his ingredients, leading to his elimination. He was friends with David, and disliked Tali and Ryan.

Season 3

Episode 1

Dave did not audition in this episode.

Episode 2

Although Dave wasn't seen auditioning fully in this episode, an additional FOX Clip showed his audition was Meatballs with Leeks and Feta. His dish was good enough to warrant an apron.

Episode 3

Dave was one of the 12 chefs that the judges were unsure about letting proceed in the competition. Dave presented his dish, being an Italian-Inspired Beef Taco. Although his dish was criticized for being simple, it was good enough to get him through in the competition.

Episode 4

Dave was not seen during the Duck Mystery Box challenge.

During the Risotto Challenge, the judges were questioning Dave's experience with making dishes such as risotto, including the way he was preparing said dish. When it was his turn to serve his dish, he made a Mixed Mushroom Risotto. Graham Elliot immediately commented on how the Morels were improperly cleaned, and still dirty. He then explained how Morels could be a dirt sponge if improperly cleaned. As a result, Dave told Joe Bastianich not to eat a Morel from his Risotto, which Joe fought back on, asking if he was telling him to eat selectively.

Dave was in the Bottom 3 of the Risotto Challenge, along with Helene and Tali. In the end, the mistake of improperly cleaned mushrooms lead to his elimination over Tali.

Episode 20

Dave appeared in the finale to cheer on for Christine and Josh.

• After his appearance, Dave continued to blog for a few years, he briefly returned to sales before becoming an events chef, catering a number of cookery events all over America and owns private catering company Savorhous. He is also Director Of Product Development at Tastebuds Foodservice.
