Hailing from a large Turkish family where he is the youngest of five, 13-year-old Etka has four elder sisters (aged 29, 28, 24, & 23) and enjoys the task of regularly cooking dinner for the whole family. Etka’s love of cooking began at age four when he got his own little pan and spoon. He enjoys having cook-offs with his sisters with his mum and dad as judges.
With a love of Turkish cuisine, Etka also has a passion for Indian and Thai cuisine, having lived in Thailand for a year. Etka enjoys being in his greenhouse and herb garden at home, picking ingredients for his dishes.
Looking forward to cooking for the judges in the MasterChef kitchen, Etka dreams of one day being a chef in his own restaurant and wants to showcase just how delicious and easy home-cooked Turkish food can be. Outside of the kitchen, Etka’s interests are varied, with fishing, art and restoring and repairing old items amongst his favourite hobbies.[1]
