Top 16 Compete, Part 2 is the eighth episode of Season 4 of MasterChef. It was aired on June 12, 2013 on FOX as a double feature alongside the seventh episode. On that episode, the Pressure Test went into overtime, four cooks were taken to Las Vegas to compete in a series of pressure tests, the first one was a restaurant takeover team challenge at Gordon Ramsay's BurGR, while the losing team faced each other in a cook-off preparing a butter-poached lobster in the second Pressure Test, leading to an unknown winner.

In the previous challenge which was an Eggs benedict Pressure Test, Luca and Beth along with Natasha and Kathy all ended up at the bottom and were taken to the bright lights of Las Vegas for a team challenge, this was done because Gordon along with Joe and Graham couldn't agree on who had the worst dish overall, so decided to take the 4 contestants to Las Vegas to determine who would be leaving.
The Challenge[]
In the team challenge, the four contestants were paired up, Luca with Kathy and Beth with Natasha as the 2 pairs were tasked with cooking a stunning burger at Gordon's BurGR restaurant in Las Vegas, during service there were some issues such as some of Luca and Kathy's Burgers being undercooked and Beth burning the buns for her and Natasha's burgers.
During the challenge, the other contestants from that season were all part of the customer group that tasted the burgers and were the main decider in which team won or lost, during the voting process James said he was surprised that Natasha and Beth were on a team given they nearly killed each other referring to their argument in the previous episode.
In the end, the winning team was Natasha and Beth, the two went back to the MasterChef Kitchen meaning that Luca and Kathy would face the final challenge.
The Final Challenge[]
In the final challenge, Luca and Kathy were challeneged by the judges to cook a Las Vegas classic, Butter Poached Lobster with a Shaved Fennel Salad and the challenge was especially difficult considering neither Luca or Kathy had worked with it before. During the challenge, Gordon and the judges were watching both of the contestants to determine who was better with the dish.
When it came down to choosing who would leave, the judges saw more potential in Luca and saved him, Kathy was very sad to leave but recieved kind parting words, Joe told Kathy to keep climbing that ladder as it's a long road from the Bronx, Gordon also gave Kathy some parting words, telling her to come and see him in New York and that he would love for her to step into his kitchen.
