Season 8[]

Harry is a walking advertisement for tourism and events in Queensland, having lived in many of the Sunshine State’s northern towns and cities in his 21 short years. It is fair to say that Harry knows how to cram a whole lot into life.

Born in Rockhampton, Harry was very young when his parents separated, after which he lived with each of them at various times in Rockhampton, Rollingstone, the Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Townsville.

Harry’s tour of Queensland did not stop there, heading to the Great Barrier Reef to work aged 18. Later he found work on Heron Island and Fitzroy Island, where he learned the ins and outs of the hospitality industry, including cocktail bartending, which became his day job and saw him create Queensland’s Best Cocktail for 2014 – Fairy Floss Windmills – while working at Shaw & Co in Townsville.

Harry inherited his cameraman dad’s keen eye for photography, investing in a stills camera and focusing on nature and landscapes. Harry’s passion and talent for photography are such that he launched his own photography business in 2014 after his photos were featured in Queensland tourism campaigns.

A keen traveller, Harry loves to harness the flavours experienced during his travels in his dishes, with influences from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Harry looks up to cooks like Poh Ling Yeow, Luke Nguyen, Adam Liaw, Kylie Kwong, Nigella Lawson, Heston Blumenthal and David Chang.

Determined to make the most of the MasterChef Australia experience, Harry is inspired by a future where he sees himself running eco-tourism experiences in remote parts of Australia and serving delicious food. His dream to combine his passions for food, nature and travel.[1]

Season 12[]

While stumbling just shy of the season eight grand finale, third place getter and fan favourite Harry Foster has plenty more to prove.

Following his last appearance in the competition, Harry moved to Tasmania where, alongside other adventures, he worked in luxury accommodation, studied plant science, and co-opened a gin distillery. His time in Tasmania strengthened his food focus, which is centered around sustainable fishing practices. Before relocating back to Queensland to pursue his passion for film making and seafood, his weekends were spent free diving off the remote Tasmanian coast, catching abalone and crayfish to incorporate into fresh ocean focused feasts with friends.[2]
