Jonathan "Jonny" Blanchard was a contestant on Season 4 of MasterChef. He ranked in 12th place.
Personality[]
Jonny had a very friendly and jovial personality, and generally got along with his fellow home cooks. Despite his success in combining wild flavors in his food to be delicious, he sometime got carried away in his adventurous style in cooking, which caused him to be in the bottom on some occasions. He was shown having a close friendship with Malcolm.

Episode 3[]
Jonny first appeared in this episode as the official last person to audition for the judges. He made Lobster Crackerjacks with Popcorn and Coconut. Gordon comments that popcorn and lobster doesn't run on the menu, neither does nuts and caramel. In the end however, the weird combinations of his dish gave him all 3 yeses from the judges and was advanced to the next round.
Jonny was then in the group where the judges were unsure about moving forward in the competition. Jonny presented a Lamb Rangoon with a Tzatziki Coleslaw. His dish later gave him a spot in the kitchen.
Episode 4[]
In the Simple Ingredients Mystery Box, he made a Tomato and Egg Potato Cake with Chocolate Mashed Potatoes. His dish was not chosen.
He later was not seen in the Langoustine Elimination Challenge.
Episode 5[]
Jonny was chosen to join the Blue Team, led by Jordan to cook for 300 students at Emperor Elementary School. He and his team lost the challenge and were sent to the pressure test.
In the cheesecake pressure test, he made a Pineapple Cheesecake with Coconut and Cream. His cheesecake was criticized by the judges for putting pineapples on top of it and how sloppy it looked. Nonetheless, his cheesecake's decent taste was good enough to save him for the next challenge.

Jonny's dish was not chosen in the Foreign Foods Mystery Box.
In the elimination challenge, Lidia Bastianich (Joe's mom) made a special appearance teaching her and the other home cooks how to make agnolotti, after mystery box winner Eddie chose the pasta. After the cook was over, Jonny made a Squash Agnolotti with a Maple Alfredo Sauce. He was criticized by Joe and his mom for putting Maple Syrup in his agnolotti (due to it not existing in Italian cuisine) and was later sent to the bottom 4 with Lynn, Beth and Howard. He was however saved from elimination along with Beth.

In the pig head mystery box, Jonny made a Tongue and Cheek Taco with a Tomato Jam and Cashew Guacamole. His dish was selected in the Top 3 but he didn't win this challenge, instead the win went to Lynn.
He later was not seen in the Crab Elimination Challenge.
Episode 12[]
In the macaron pressure test, he was tasked to make 12 macarons with Lynn. When the pressure test was almost over, he accidentally crushed his macarons after trying to make them fit into the box after realizing how big the macarons were. Despite that, the flavours were good enough to impress the judges but in the end was eliminated due to the appearance of how he presented his box of his crushed macarons.

Jonny appeared in the finale cheering on for Luca and Natasha.
