“ | Well, the wonderful thing about it is, it's already set for me. It's a TV Dinner, so it's gonna look like a TV Dinner. | ” |
Veronica Cili was a contestant on Season 6 of MasterChef. She ranked in 16th place.
Personality[]
Veronica was the oldest cook in the season, which seemingly portrayed to how well she could cook. At the start, Veronica was quite strong with cooking desserts despite lacking presentation skills, and could've been seen by a couple as a dark horse with desserts. However, Veronica was slow in the kitchen and had a hard time following instructions, as she always tended to do things on her own. She was always extremely confident about what she can do from her experience, but she was overconfident, and fell into a downwards spiral after the Corn Challenge. However, her biggest problem was that she wasn't listening to the instructions specifically given to the judges, which led to her expected elimination when she failed to understand that she was meant to improve on a TV Dinner.
Season 6[]
Episode 1[]
Veronica was shown winning her apron over an unknown auditionee in a dessert challenge. Her dish appeared to be a pie of some sort, but Christina praised her pastry cream for being delicious, which won her an apron.
Episode 2[]
Since Veronica auditioned in the previous episode, she was not seen much in this episode at all.
Episode 3[]
During the Home Kitchen Mystery Box challenge, Veronica claimed that she was worried about the challenge, as she felt like the ingredients currently in her kitchen could not make a cohesive meal. Her dish was not chosen to be tasted.
Veronica was one of the 9 contestants chosen by Dan to have to cook in the Apple Pie elimination test. When she was cooking, she told the judges that she would be putting graham crackers in the pastry crust. The judges questioned her decision, but she told them that she liked to figure things out as she cooked.
She was the first person to have her Apple Pie tasted. Veronica wasn’t confident in the presentation, claiming it wasn’t her prettiest pie, but she knew the flavours were there. When she described her pie to Gordon, she became flustered and just said it was an Apple Pie, before describing it properly to them. While explaining, she said it was a very simple Apple Pie, but Gordon did not feel like it was. She made a Caramel Apple Pie with Walnuts. Gordon asked her how much she baked Apple Pies, which she said she doesn’t but she did bake a lot of birthday cakes. When Gordon tasted, he said that the pie bizarrely tasted delicious despite looking a mess. Christina then agreed with him saying it tasted delicious, which Veronica jumped up and down with excitement to. Graham then said he felt the pie tasted ten times better than it looked, and that he would definitely take another slice.
As a result, Veronica was safe from elimination.
